About GSD

Global System Dynamics and Policies is a project funded by the Future & Emerging Technologies division of the European Commission. The project began in May 2008, and will continue until April 2010.

GSD is made up of 11 partner institutions  from across Europe

What is the objective of GSD?

The project’s purpose is to review how complex systems analysis can be applied to policy decisions, with a particular focus on climate change, sustainable cities, risk, energy and social problems.

The programme aims to connect the building of different methodologies of multi-physics modelling, engineering systems, dynamics, economics and organisations modelling. We hope that this process of connection will lead to some integration of these approaches.

GSD Partners organise events  which aim to encourage discussion, knowledge sharing and networking between the academics, policy makers and industry representatives currently researching and working in the areas relating to the project. Papers and articles from these events are available for general download

How can you get involved with GSD?

We are keen to connect all those working and researching in the areas relevant to the GSD project. Your research group, think tank or company can join the GSD Network and be represented on our website.

We would also like to stimulate discussion and debate – you are able to propose a blog entry for the GSD site, and so receive comments and feedback from the GSD community.

To join the network or to find out more about the GSD blog, please contact

Elizabeth Hancock, GSD Project Administrator.
